We are a unique and diverse organization for all cultures and backgrounds. Our members have come from all walks of life, each with their unique story to tell for why they became a Freemason.

Fred Douglass Lodge No. 99, Free & Accepted Masons (F&AM), Prince Hall Affiliated (PHA) is a masonic lodge located in Wichita, Kansas.  We are a subordinate lodge of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Lodge of Kansas.  Our unwavering mission is to elevate good men to become better men through the philosophy and teachings espoused by Freemasonry.  We are a unique and diverse organization comprised of men from all cultures, races, ethnic origin, creed, and backgrounds and seek to be a light unto all who seek self-improvement.  Our members come from all walks of life, each with their own unique experiences and stories for why the became a Freemason and why they choose to continue along the path that is Freemasonry.

Freemasons are a community of men who share similar beliefs and values.  The fraternity is the oldest known fraternity of men who associate themselves together for the benefit of all its members.  The fraternity finds it important to connect with other men of honor, compassion, love, trust, and knowledge, regardless of their race, color, religious beliefs, political views, citizenship, or national origin.  This list is not exclusive and the general orientation of the organization is one of inclusion.  These men, friends, and brothers are connected through this vital and uplifting organization of moral and competent men.

It’s continuing pursuit of truth, knowledge, ethics, and leadership skills help to make good men better and bring more meaning to the lives of its members, their families, and all they associate with.  Learning the tenets of Freemasonry, paired with being an active part of a community, gives freemasons the opportunity to develop leadership and organizational skills, and builds self-discipline through commitment and self-confidence.

As a major contributor in Freemasonry, the Prince Hall Lodge of Kansas, and Fred Douglass Lodge No. 99 is a part of a worldwide organization that values tradition, history, and timeless wisdom.  The traditions and core values of our fraternity are as meaningful today as when the organization first evolved and will endure for centuries to come because of its direct impact on the community, through its charities, and on a personal level.

Fred Douglass Lodge No. 99 was issued a charter and established on August 19, 1920.  Since then, its members have continued to embody the tenets of Freemasonry by practicing Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth.  The lodge continues to implement programs within the community for the benefit of its members, families, friends, and the community at large.

    Questions about Freemasonry

    One of the oldest fraternal groups in existence is Freemasonry. Although they may come from various socioeconomic, racial, or religious origins, it unifies men of high character with a shared conviction in God’s fatherhood and humanity’s brotherhood. With its system of degrees, symbols, and fellowship opportunities, Freemasonry provides a method or blueprint for the good man to develop his acts and character further.

    Men of every nation, religion, race, age, level of Masonic Education, and viewpoint are welcome to join us. However, the following requirements must be met to join us:

    • A guy at least 18 years old (in certain countries, the minimum age can be as high as 21).
    • Believe in a Supreme Being, even though it is not concerned with doctrinal differences or specific religious views.
    • Being morally upright
    • Be inspired to join for causes other than your benefit or financial gain.
    • Be eager to learn and prepared to follow the Masonic Fraternity’s traditional rituals and practices.

    Yes, women are allowed to join Freemasonry in some countries and jurisdictions. However, in our Masonic Lodge, our focus remains on catering to males.
